Over the past year, Kiwis have gained a whole new appreciation for our beautiful country.
Many of us are rediscovering what a wonderful place it is to holiday in — given that, for the time being, it is the only country we can holiday in.
With trips to the islands and further afield currently off the cards, we are seeing an increase in people investing in our prebuilt homes so they can make the most of their downtime here in New Zealand.
Here are some reasons why we think now is a great time to build an Ezyline holiday home:
It’s a great investment
Interest rates are low, and, if managed and marketed well, a holiday home can pay for itself — it can even bring in an income. Sure, we don’t have the overseas visitors at the moment, but neither can Kiwis travel abroad easily. And they have to spend their holiday dollar somewhere. You might even like to consider going shares in a holiday home with family and friends, to spread the financial load.
Home away from home
Having a holiday home means you can go and spend time in your favourite spot of New Zealand whenever you like — and you don’t have to make like a snail to do it! Camping and caravanning is not for everyone, and knowing that all your home comforts are ready and waiting for you at the other end when you arrive means less time unpacking and more time relaxing.
Sharing is caring
A holiday home often becomes a focal point for family and friends to come together (and you don’t have to book a year in advance to secure a spot). Offering ‘mates rates’ to family and friends when you’re not using your holiday pad can help fill the booking gaps.
If you are an employer, a holiday home can be a great perk for staff. Offering employees use of a holiday home at affordable rates is a staff benefit that helps to build loyalty and makes your business a great place to work.
So… why Ezyline?
Call us biased, but we think our prebuilt, transportable homes are the perfect choice for a holiday home.
Chances are you’re not going to build a holiday home in your own backyard. That means managing a site that is outside the area that you live in, which comes with its challenges. With Ezyline, the building is done at our Mount Maunganui and Palmerston North yards, and then the homes are transported to the location of your choice. Which means you don’t have to manage a building site and multiple contractors. The only things you have to worry about are:
- Site plan drawings including positioning and drainage details
- A building consent from your local authority (based on the site plan drawings)
- A transport company to deliver the house to your site and complete the pile foundations
- The connecting of utilities at your new site (e.g. phone, internet, power and water)
- The finishing touches like decking, base cladding, carpet, fixed floor coverings, curtains or drapes, appliances, heat pump
We can put you in touch with people to help with all of the above – just ask! All in all, we reckon you’ll end up doing less than a third of the workload of a traditional build!
It’s cheaper and faster
Prebuilt homes are generally cheaper than building onsite, as they come with less overheads, such as scaffolding, fencing and travel costs. We are also able to help you achieve cost savings by ordering materials in bulk, resulting in little to no wastage. And you know the costs from the outset, so there are no nasty surprises or budget blowouts. Plus, our Prebuilt homes take on average 12 weeks to build.
Travelling out of town to do repairs and work on a holiday home can be costly, not to mention inconvenient. Our homes are of a high quality and they exceed Building Code standards. Being brand new, they meet all the requirements for a healthy home and are low maintenance, which means you can pretty much ‘set and forget’.
We’ve got a range of plans to suit your needs and budget, so if you’re looking for somewhere else to spend that ‘Fiji fund’… take a browse!
